Kosshi 1.18
Kosshi 1.18
#43ReleaseI've done a short test run with the recent beta. There were a few visual "glitches" I experienced at times but could not duplicate. Sorry.
- row links: worked very nicely! I was wondering how you'd implement this ... the link makes that spec ific row a "header". (Don't know if this is the proper wording.) Once I saw how this worked I found it very convenient to use!
- markdown table: worked just fine. Thanks for adding.
- split view: I didn't think I'd use this myself, but after playing around with it I can see how useful it could be. I did see a glitch. I normally have my window taking up about 80% of my screen, and the font sizes I use are relatively large. When I first invoked split screen the type would get all "funky". Once I readjusted screen to be 100% width then all was resolved. Also, once going to 100% width if I then went back to 80% all was fine in that view also. Whenever I invoke split view the original page goes funky in terms of text but if I move the width, or just click inside that page, all resolves. Same weird typography smush when I close a split view.
- invoking split view: it works but I find it awkward. Maybe I'm not used to it. I thought I had to click in a specific place on the row, but it looks like I don't have to. That's great. So maybe this isn't a problem per se, I just need to adjust. I'd love a keyboard shortcut for doing this. But also once in awhile when I am in a row and right-click the option to open in split view is not present. I think this leads to the confusion: when/where do I have to be in a row to invoke split screen.
I like the split view. I got six different views in the same window just for the sake of testing it. It would be nice to save these views so we can return to them later (e.g., dashboard, etc.).
The row links work fine; nice addition. However, if I create a row link from the first row of a table, the resulting link looks strange (it displays the Markdown); I haven't found a way to edit the links to make them look cleaner.
Tables work fine and update dynamically when displayed in multiple split views!
After installing the Kosshi Outliner TestFlight beta, version 1.18.0 (171), I noticed that it did not replace the latest public release version. In my experience, TestFlight beta versions of other apps have typically replaced the currently installed public version.
More importantly, the beta version is not syncing with my iCloud account. I have iCloud Sync enabled in both the beta version and the latest public release version.
I have tried uninstalling the public release, uninstalling and reinstalling the beta, and verifying that iCloud Sync is enabled, but the beta still does not sync with my existing Kosshi Outliner data in iCloud.
Could you please advise me on how to resolve this iCloud syncing issue?
Thanks,
Bob

Thank you for the detailed feedback. I’m glad you’ve found the new features useful.
A note about row links: when you paste a row link into another app, it uses Kosshi’s custom URL scheme, beginning with kosshi://. When you paste it inside Kosshi, it becomes an internal link using the [[...]] format.
I’ll investigate the text display issue in Split View based on the information you provided. Thank you for reporting it.
I’ll also consider adding a default keyboard shortcut for opening Split View. I found that the current implementation has an omission that prevents assigning a shortcut to Open Below, and I’ll fix that.
The menu is currently different in the sidebar and the main editor. In the main editor, the Split View actions are grouped under Open, while the sidebar shows them directly. This inconsistency is confusing, so I’ll make the menus more consistent.
Until then, Find Action Cmd+Shift+A can also be used to find actions such as Open Below. As Kosshi gains more actions, I’ll keep improving Find Action so it remains an easy way to discover them. Searching for Split or View will find it as well.

Thanks for letting me know.
The beta app and the public app are currently separate. The beta syncs with other beta installations, but not with the public app. This is intentional because the beta is designed as a separate, safe testing environment.
Some testers may prefer to use their existing data in the beta, so I may change this setup in the future.
For now, please use the public app for your existing data. Sorry for the confusion.
Junichi,
Thanks for the response. I keep forgetting about cmd-shift-A ... my bad. I just tested this with the beta and it doesn't work the way I expect. I can bring up the search, type in relevant term and Kosshi (beta) will highlight the command I want. All good so far. However, I expect that when I then finalize my selection by pressing the RETURN key that the selected command will initiate. It doesn't. I need to instead take my hands off the keyboard (never good) and then manually click on the command. Then it works.
... on the other hand cmd-shift-A works exactly as I expect on the non-beta version.
The 1.18 beta is now available on TestFlight for both macOS and iOS.
Please give it a try and let us know if you find any issues.
