Kosshi 1.19
Kosshi 1.19
#46ReleaseLooks to be very nice new features. So far (4 hours after beta release) it does not show up for me in TestFlight. Maybe it will appear in another few hours.
I’ve decided to distribute future betas through TestFlight using the regular Kosshi app, instead of a separate beta app.
I originally made a separate app to turn off in-app purchases for EU users. That issue is now fixed, and I think a separate app is unnecessary for normal beta testing. It also seems to be taking longer to get through App Review, while the regular Kosshi app is already in review.
Sorry, but you’ll need to go through the same steps as last time. You should receive a new invitation email in a little while. Please delete the previous beta app and use the one from the new invitation.
Thanks for your patience.
Hi Junichi,
I got the new invite. Beta 1.19 is now installed on iOS but has licensing issues. I'm getting "Trial Ended" prompt in iOS. See screen capture.
Attempted to install the testflight beta 1.19 on macOS and it gives me an error: “Kosshi Outliner” can only be tested on an iOS device.
What could be the cause?
On iOS I am told Kosshi is already installed (which is correct) and that by downloading the Test Flight version I may lose my data. I really can't afford to do that. Happy to test but are there any precautions I should take before downloading the iOS beta? (I don't have an invite for Mac OS beta but I'm sure the same issue may arise.)
To be fair I realize I can download a backup. In fact I've done that on Mac OS ... both as a zip and opml. Notheless I'd rather wait and hear what I should be doing to be "appropriately cautious".
Looking forward to beta testing!
I’m sorry for the confusion. I asked you to test the beta before the setup and policy were fully ready.
This time, the App Store review for version 1.19.0 finished before the macOS TestFlight review. I will therefore release the regular App Store version first. I would greatly appreciate your feedback on the regular release rather than the current TestFlight build.
I originally planned to run a beta before every release, but I have realized that not every release needs beta testing. I think TestFlight will be more useful for features where feedback before release is especially important. I already have a few completed features, but I have not yet decided whether or how to release them. I would like to ask for your feedback on those.
I need a little more time to prepare TestFlight for smoother testing. I will ask for your feedback again when I have a beta that I would like you to test. I’m sorry that the plan has changed several times, and thank you for your patience.
Thank you for reporting these issues.
The “Trial Ended” message appears because purchases in TestFlight use Apple’s Sandbox environment. Even if you proceed with a purchase, no actual charge will occur, and it will not affect your App Store license. I will change future beta builds so that this screen does not appear.
As mentioned above, for this release, I would appreciate your feedback on the regular App Store update instead.
Thank you for checking before installing it.
The data warning is a general message shown when a TestFlight build replaces an installed App Store version. Installing it will not delete your existing Kosshi data.
However, as mentioned above, you do not need to install the current TestFlight build. For this release, I would appreciate your feedback on the regular App Store update instead.
I haven't checked everything yet. But the capture system is perfect. Love that you added that to the feature set.
Thank you.

Now that you have merged the beta version with the production version of Kosshi Outliner, when I install the MacOS and iOS beta versions, Kosshi Outliner no longer recognizes that I have purchased the apps and won't let me edit my outline unless I purchase the apps again. I have had to uninstall the beta versions and reinstall the production versions (1.19) in order to continue using Kosshi Outliner
Thank you for reporting this. I’m sorry you had to reinstall Kosshi 1.19.
For this release, please use the App Store version and try the new features there. TestFlight purchases are only for testing and do not result in an actual charge, but I should have prepared the beta with purchases disabled from the start.
In the future, I’ll use TestFlight only when pre-release feedback is needed, with a separate beta app. Thank you for your understanding and help.
Hi Junichi,
I've been testing the Boolean search features and I'm quite pleased with the results. The only thing that I have noticed is that Kosshi Outliner becomes sluggish with the spinning beach ball appearing occasionally.
I have a question regarding the proper syntax for using this feature. If, for example, I wanted to search for all occurrences of the word "withdrawal" with all occurences of either "tangerine" or "meridian", what would the search phrase be?
Thanks,
Bob
Thanks for trying out the Boolean search.
The syntax is withdrawal AND (tangerine OR meridian)
AND can be omitted, so withdrawal (tangerine OR meridian) works as well. AND and OR are case-insensitive, so lowercase and uppercase both work. The parentheses are required.
I haven’t measured the performance of Boolean searches yet, so I’ll look into the slowdown and spinning beach ball.
Kosshi 1.19.3 is now available.
This update includes faster search and row highlighting.

Hi Junichi,
Boolean search is almost instantaneous now! There is no noticeable lag whatsoever. Thank you!
I just started using Kosshi today, and am enjoying playing with it.
I'm seeing an anomaly where the cursor leaves the search field as the results progressively filter. This causes unintended typing appended to nodes in the filtered results.
For example, If I:
- drill into "Welcome to Kosshi" node
- place the cursor on any child node
- Cmd-F to open search (cursor moves to search field)
- Start typing "Select All", usually after 3-5 characters are typed the cursor will move into the filtered list, and the rest of the typing will appear there.
- If my initial cursor position is on the top parent node before I bring up the search field, the cursor remains in the search field.
Using Kosshi v1.19.3 on MacOS 26.6.2
Kosshi 1.19 beta is now available on TestFlight.
Please give it a try and let me know if you find any issues or anything confusing.
