First click does not clear text selection

When a fragment of text is selected and I click elsewhere with the mouse to clear the selection, the first click does nothing. The text remains selected.

Only the second click has an effect, but instead of simply placing the cursor, it selects the word that was clicked.

After selecting a fragment of text, a single mouse click outside the selection should clear the selection and place the cursor at the clicked position. Only a subsequent intentional action, such as double-clicking, should select a word.

You're right. Clicking inside a selection should place the caret there on the first click. I will fix this.
